Onward! (R)Evolutions in the Humanities

Call for Papers

8th Annual Graduate Student Conference

 for Romance Languages and Literatures

April 26th-27th, 2019

In the present historical moment, we see an urgency for a true intellectual (R)evolution from which the Humanities will come out reinforced as a true and useful tool for society.  Our areas of knowledge, Literature, Languages and Linguistics studies must work hand in hand to strengthen, support and value the importance of the Humanities in the overall framework, not only of the university, but of life in our society.

According to the activities proposed by the Humanities Institute and Department of RLL for the current academic year, On Guard? Onward!  will be the conference that continues their trend. To do this, we need to look ahead and put aside divisions from the past. When several disciplines enter into dialogue to solve the same problem - even if they use different methods - the results are more enriching and enlightening.

Although our main approaches will be from Literature and Linguistics, we encourage our colleagues from Arts, Anthropology, History, Education, Philosophy, and Social Sciences disciplines to share this event with us.

We are proud to announce that our keynote speakers for the conference will be:

Dr. John Lipski

(The Pennsylvania State University)

Dr. William Egginton

 (Johns Hopkins University)

We dedicate this conference to esteemed professor

Dr. Jeannette M. Ludwig

We especially encourage but are not restricted to approaches such as:

Comparative Literature

Linguistics & Socio-Linguistics

Education & L2 Acquisition
