Organization: University Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid
Event: 3rd EDITION EXPANDED REASON AWARDS
The 3rd edition of the Expanded Reason Congress brings together university researchers and teachers from all over the world who, from their particular sciences, ask themselves about the reality that challenges them, taking into account anthropology, epistemology, ethics and the meaning that underlies what they study.
The Congress is part of the 3rd edition of the Expanded Reason Awards. The attendees will be able to meet the winners of this third edition, the finalists and the professors attending from other universities, and establish an in-depth dialogue with them through the conferences, round table discussions and workshops of the Congress.
The Expanded Reason Congress is born from the same mission that the Expanded Reason Awards have, drawn from the proposal of Benedict XVI: to put the particular sciences in dialogue with philosophy and theology, with the aim of knowing reality in all its breadth, and thus overcoming the scientific and utilitarian reductionisms that permeate our postmodern society.
Both the Congress and the Awards insist on this way of using reason in the awareness that the beauty of the study of the particular sciences at the university lies in man’s desire to understand himself and the reality that surrounds him; a desire that bring with it an even greater desire: to understand what is the truest way of living.
On September 19th, 20th and 21st, 2019, the Expanded Reason Congress will be held at the University Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, on the occasion of the 3rd edition of the Expanded Reason Awards. It will bring together researchers and teachers from all over the world who, from their particular sciences, are asking themselves about the reality that intrigues and challenges them, taking into account anthropology, epistemology, ethics, meaning and all other Expanded Reason issues that underlie what they study.
