The book is focused on Tribology of coating materials such as polymers, nano-composites coatings etc and materials characterization techniques by which structure and properties of a coating are measured. It will provide an update on important topics like wear characteristics of coatings, Bioactive advanced coatings, surface coating deposition methods, Hardfacing, thermal spraying processes, structural and mechanical characterization. The microstructures, morphology of worn out surfaces will be explained using images produced by scanning electron microscope etc. and experimental data will be represented in a tabular form. The book will highlight the recent developments in Tribology of coating and their characterization techniques for various applications.Polymer/plastic based composites are being developed and they are most widely used in electronics and aerospace industries. This book will aim to provide a platform for academicians, scientists and industrialists to present the challenges in the field of surface engineering. Many advanced topics have been included in our book such as bio-active coatings which is used in biomedical applications and it will increase the scope of this book. Being an interdisciplinary subject it will help the readers to understand the experimental techniques used to characterize the coatings.
