As the many varied restaurants that populate Las Vegas remind us, food is part of everybody’s daily life; every celebration goes hand with hand with food, but also every crisis brings out the scarcity and inequity of food distribution. Spanish literature is filled with starving characters, from Lazarillo onwards that denounce life conditions; but food representation takes different flavors. Recently, food has taken main stage not only in publications but also in cinema, and TV programs… This session invites papers that engage with food representation in Spanish-language cultural productions: literature, cookbooks, cinema, television…
