Special Issue of Lamar Journal of the Humanities: 9/11 and Its Aftermath

The Lamar Journal of the Humanities, a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal, invites papers for its Spring 2022 Special Issue on “The Aftermath of 9/11.”
The 20th anniversary of the attacks on 9/11 offers a timely opportunity to reflect on the tremendous influence that fateful morning has had over the last two decades. Technically the new century began on the first day of 2000, and the new millennium on the first day of 2001, but the new world arrived on that Tuesday—a world that, for better or worse, we largely still inhabit. It is in this spirit that we dedicate our 2021-22 issue to scholarly examinations of 9/11 and its aftermath, associations, and phenomena.
We welcome submissions in any field (or sub-field) of the humanities, including (but not limited to) the following areas: literature written about (or inspired by) 9/11 and its aftermath; histories and micro-histories of that day or the era; sociological and/or anthropological analyses of post-9/11 American society; criminal justice and Homeland Security; considerations of Islam, Islamophobia, Muslims and Muslim-Americans; artistic representations or reactions to 9/11; American philosophies of the 21st century; shifts in linguistics, entertainment, and the media, and more.
The Lamar Journal of the Humanities appeals to a general academic readership, so articles should be accessible to a general educated audience. Statistical articles are not encouraged but will be considered. Articles are accepted in English, Spanish, French, and German.
Manuscripts should not exceed 6,000 words and should conform to the MLA Handbook or the Chicago Manual of Style. The deadline for submissions is January 1, 2021.
