Organization: The Banjo Gathering
We are pleased to announce that the 2022 Banjo Gathering in Baltimore, Maryland will have programming on Thursday, November 3; Friday, November 4; and Saturday, November 5, 2022.
We invite proposals for presentations and panels that can be: live and in person; pre-recorded with live Q&A; and pre-recorded with no Q&A (which will be available for viewing online only). In person presentations will be given preference over remote presentations, however we realize that not everyone will be traveling in the fall of this year and all content (live and recorded) will be available for viewing online.
Proposals should explore the cultural history of the banjo, physical and design aspects of the banjo, playing techniques and styles, banjo building and set-up, banjo-related ephemera, banjo collecting, banjo players, and/or anything banjo-related! Taking into account Baltimore's role in early banjo manufacture and the early presence of banjos in the Chesapeake region, we are especially interested in presentations that explore the legacy of enslavement on the banjo's history, banjo manufacturing, and Baltimore's history with the banjo.
Please SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL BY FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2022 by filling out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeClnvDa-OS2tlQVrFX_Zlso4dXjY-Bfhw1htorsoT-4Nn9ZQ/viewform
Presentations will be limited to 45 minutes (e.g., 30 minute presentation with 15 minutes Q&A). Please direct questions to Kristina Gaddy at email@example.com. If you would like to submit a proposal but believe that you may have technical restraints, please mention this in the comments section below or email Kristina.
We will select presentations by the first week in August.
