Call for Papers
This international conference aims to approach the Snake from very diverse perspectives, whether through the field of biology, medical, natural and behavioral sciences, mythology, archaeology, anthropology, gender studies, psychology, language, spirituality, or artistic creation (literature, poetry, theatre, painting, dance, singing, advertising, manga, games and video-game creations, etc). Where will these observations take us? This is the challenge of this conference, which wants to be dynamic, perhaps even audacious, and seeks to begin without any a priori, but which will nevertheless try to draw a global theoretical approach, via a strategy of overlapping and divergent points of view. Will we accept the deadly sting of the Snake, its hissing language and hypnotic undulation plunging us into the hearts of our oldest stories and our most contemporary concerns?
We invite the community of researchers of all disciplines (including PhD students) to view this subject from a transdisciplinary perspective, that is to say to analyze the place of the Serpent within, but also beyond, their field of expertise, in order to approach its complexity. We are interested in papers in English or French (20 minutes per speaker). Please note that a publication of the conference's contributions is planned in Loxias. Please send your abstract proposals to Françoise Storey (Francoise.STOREY@univ-cotedazur.fr) or Jeff Storey (Jeff.STOREY@univ-cotedazur.fr) no later than December 15, 2022.
