This edited volume, Political Communication in India: Voices, Visions, and Vectors, seeks to
explore the nuanced intersections of political discourse and media, examining the multi-faceted
nature of political communication across four key thematic domains. We invite scholars,
academicians, researchers, and practitioners to contribute chapters within these focus areas,
each designed to inspire reflection on the essential pillars of political communication today.
Thematic Areas:
1. Persuasion and Power: Advertising in Political Discourse
- Branding Politics: Examining political campaigns as brand stories
- Media and Message: The role of paid media, endorsements, and messaging strategies
- Ad Campaign Narratives: Storytelling techniques and narrative construction
- Audience Targeting: The science and ethics of voter profiling and segmentation
- Emotional Appeals: The psychology of persuasion in political ads
2. Behind the Curtain: Public Relations in Political Strategy
- Crisis Management: Tactics for handling political image crises and controversies
- Spin and Strategy: The art of media relations and its influence on public opinion
- Celebrity and Charisma: The use of influential figures in shaping political messages
- Press Releases and Media Statements: The traditional PR toolbox in contemporary politics

- Nationality Narratives: The evolution of the nationalist/sub-nationalist narratives in politics
- Media and Cultural Policy: How cultural expressions shape political communication
- The Intersection of Art and Politics: Visual arts, films, literature, and their roles
Submission Guidelines:
We welcome both theoretical explorations, case studies and qualitative interviews within these
sub-themes. Each contribution should present a unique perspective on political communication
in the Indian context, using empirical or analytical approaches.
- Abstracts: 300-400 words detailing the chapter’s focus, theoretical framework, possible
conclusions and relevance to the theme.
- Formatting Style: Anonymised submissions using APA (7th edition) style for formatting, as
well as referencing. Manuscripts should be double-spaced, with Times New Roman, 12-point
font, with 1-inch margins on each side. Title in Bold in 14-point font. Please use UK English.
- Deadline for Submission: November 30, 2024
- Intimation of Acceptance: December 16, 2024
- Publisher: We are looking for a publisher of international repute for the edited volume.
- Review Process: All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Revisions
may be requested based on reviewer feedback. Based on final selections, authors will be invited
to submit full-length chapters, which will be due March 15, 2025. A stylesheet will be issued
to all authors for the same.
