Latin American governments, public institutions, private companies, healthcare centers, civil society organizations, and cultural-linguistic minority groups have a long history of implementing programs that align with contemporary theories of Lifelong Learning: for instance, ministries of health and education have provided actualización, educación continua, or educación permanente programs to keep their staff up to date; private companies have emphasized the importance of providing training opportunities to their staff; social security agencies have strived to provide educational offers to all citizens; older adult universities have been founded; ethnic and linguistic minorities have centuries-long histories of lifelong training. However, these perspectives have barely been studied in the English-language literature.
Our volume, already under contract with Springer, aims to fill the gap in the scholarship, advance interdisciplinary research on LL, and foster the promotion of LL in Latin American research and policy discourses. We invite contributions from researchers working on LL-related topics in disciplines such as Pedagogy, Educational Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, Economy, Public Policy, Health Studies, Law, and History, among others, who want to propose innovative Latin American-centered theories, pedagogical models, practical models, policies, and case studies on the past, present, and future of LL in specific Latin American countries, peoples, or regions.
Recommended Topics
Recommended topics, whether theoretical or practical, include but are not limited to:
- Pedagogical and historical perspectives on LL in Mexico and Latin America.
- Case studies of LL programs and their participants in Mexico and Latin America.
- Policy analyses and evidence-based proposals on LL in Mexico and Latin America.
- LL in Latin American healthcare and eldercare institutions.
- LL in Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and immigrant communities.
- LL in small, medium, and large private companies operating in Mexico and Latin America.
