Tentative title of the book-

Regaining the Glorious Past: Mingling Indian Knowledge Systems and Classical Literature

Editors- Dr. Asim Kumar Betal

       Dr. Sushil Sarkar

It is a great pleasure to announce that an edited volume tentatively titled “Regaining the Glorious Past: Mingling Indian Knowledge Systems and Classical Literature” by a national/ International publishing house of repute is going to be published soon. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) incorporate a vast body of indigenous wisdom in fields like arts and philosophy. Rooted deeply in Sanskrit and Indian classical literature, IKS shaped not only literary expression but also the evolution of thought in ancient India. Sanskrit texts—epics, poetry, and philosophical treatises—reflect profound intellectual traditions that influenced later vernacular literature and philosophical schools. These classical works inspired English translations and global discourse, enriching world literature and comparative philosophy. The integration of IKS in literature reveals a unique blend of aesthetics, ethics, and knowledge, offering timeless insights for both Indian and global audiences. Professors, Researchers, academicians, students, teachers of English language and literature, Sanskrit language and literature and Philosophy may send their book chapters.

Sub-themes:

1. Tracing Vedantic Thought in Classical Texts: Rereading of Indian Classical Texts

2. The Confluence of Knowledge and aesthetics in Indian Tradition

3. Ethics and Dharma: Moral Frameworks in Epics and Puranas

Concept Note-

This tentative book will explore the deep interconnection between Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and Indian Classical Literature, aiming to revive and regain the intellectual and cultural richness of ancient India. Classical texts—ranging from epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana to works of k?vya, drama, and philosophical treatises—are not mere literary pieces but vibrant repositories of knowledge systems including philosophy, polity, ethics, and linguistics. By examining literature through the lens of IKS, we unveil indigenous frameworks of holistic learning and contextual wisdom. This amalgamation enriches both our understanding of classical texts and our indebtedness to the core of India’s civilizational. The initiative encourages a multidisciplinary dialogue, nurturing a renewed sense of identity and cultural vibes, while contributing meaningfully to contemporary education, research, and nation-building efforts.
