(Re)generating Worlds: Humans and Non-Humans in Hispanic and Lusophone Imaginaries (NEMLA)

Pittsburgh
Organization: NeMLA
Event: NEMLA
Categories: Postcolonial, Hispanic & Latino, Literary Theory, Caribbean & Caribbean Diasporas
Event Date: 2026-03-05 to 2026-03-08 Abstract Due: 2025-09-30

Literature, films, art, music and all other forms of cultural productions have the capacity to deploy imaginaries that regenerate the ways in which we interact and recreate the worlds we inhabit. This panel invites presentations that interrogate from different theoretical stands the relations and frontiers between humans and non humans. How have the lines of tension, competition and collaboration between these two realms have been constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed across the Spanish and Portuguese speaking literary and artistic traditions? We accept submissions in English, Spanish and Portuguese that approach this problematic in works of literature, cinema, and other cultural productions.
