Dear esteemed scholars and researchers,
Artificial Intelligence (AI), as one of the most transformative technological developments in individual and societal life, profoundly impacts not only economic and political systems but also religious beliefs, rituals, theology, ethics, and spiritual experiences. From robotic clergy automating religious practices to digital analyses of sacred texts, from virtual worship rituals to AI-simulated religious leaders, AI engages with religion in broad and diverse ways. This interaction is not only a technological evolution but also a catalyst for fundamental changes in the meaning, practice, and social functions of religion, enabling the reconstruction of religious identities, authority, and sanctity.
The impact of AI on religious and social domains is most evident in three major dimensions:
Theological and ontological dimension: AI’s advancement reopens core religious questions such as the human’s position before the Creator, creation, consciousness, and sanctity.
Ethical and social dimension: Topics like AI’s decision-making capabilities, autonomy, and moral responsibility necessitate revisions in religious and social ethical theories. For instance, the question of accountability for actions taken by autonomous systems sparks new ethical debates.
Ritual and practical dimension: AI-assisted worship practices, virtual pilgrimages, digital sermons, and AI-led communities are accelerating the digitalization of religious rituals and practices.
By interacting with both individual and societal domains, AI not only contributes to the emergence of new forms of “digital religiosity” through global knowledge networks and algorithmic systems but also holds the potential for conflict with normative principles rooted in sacred texts and teachings—particularly due to its ethical ambiguities.
In this context, we invite esteemed scholars and researchers to contribute to this book project, which aims to host holistic and critical approaches to the relationship between AI and religion, original and interdisciplinary studies on the effects of AI on religious beliefs, institutions, practices, and individuals, and the socio-cultural, ethical, philosophical, and ontological dimensions of AI-religion interaction.

C) Details
The book is planned to be published by a publisher that meets the “Recognized International Publisher” criteria defined by the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) for associate professorship applications (i.e., a publisher that has been active internationally for at least five years and whose books appear in the catalogs of leading global universities), with an international ISBN.
Chapters may be single- or co-authored. A single author may contribute multiple works. The book will consist of original research and review articles that have not been published elsewhere. Authors are responsible for their own contributions. The publisher and editors bear no responsibility for the views or conclusions expressed in the chapters, nor do they endorse or guarantee the accuracy or usability of any information, tool, or method discussed. Therefore, they cannot be held liable for any outcomes.
No part of the book may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form without written permission from the publisher. Submitted manuscripts will not be returned. No royalties will be paid for published works. Authors whose works are selected for publication will be required to pay a publication fee.
The finalized book will be delivered to the authors on December 15, 2025. Each author will receive one complimentary copy. Authors should adhere to the schedule of important dates during the application and writing phases. Manuscripts should comply with ILSAM Publications’ formatting guidelines:

2) Important Information
Plagiarism checks will be conducted by both the responsible authors and the editors. Works found to be plagiarized will not be published. In case of any legal disputes, the responsibility lies solely with the chapter authors. Practical, idea-generating, technical, and solution-oriented contributions will be prioritized. Academics and researchers interested in contributing a chapter must apply by June 30, 2025. Proposals should be submitted via email and include the title of the proposed chapter and a 150–200 word abstract outlining the problem, objective, method, and scope of the work.
