The Asian Studies section is currently accepting paper and panel proposals for the 68th Annual Conference of the World Social Science Association. The conference will be held at the Clyde Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from March 25th through 28th, 2026.

The Asian Studies section welcomes research on the historical, cultural, social, and political aspects of the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Pacific, and East Asia. Previous panels have explored Asian immigrant women’s participation management, governance in China, contemporary Japanese digital culture, and feminist readings of the Bh?gavata Pur??a. We encourage innovative and critical approaches that address contemporary and historical issues.

The Asian Studies section is particularly eager to include the voices of graduate students and early-career scholars. This is an excellent opportunity for emerging researchers to share their work and engage with a broader academic community.

The WSSA also holds several competitions and awards, including cash prizes for undergraduate and graduate papers. Winners of the John Wicks Dissertation Paper Award are eligible to receive a prize of $250 (USD) and the refunding of registration and conference fees. Winners of the Bert & Phyllis Lamb Prize in Political Science will receive partial or full reimbursement of travel costs and a $1,000 (USD) prize.

The deadline for paper abstracts and panel proposals is January 16th, 2026. Early registration for the conference and hotel ends on December 30th, 2025. Discounted registration fees end on November 30th, 2025. Virtual participation in the conference is permitted; however, additional registration fees are required. In-person participation is highly recommended.
