Valentina Morello (University of Arkansas-Fayetteville)

Irene Hatzopoulos (University of California, Riverside)

The concept of trauma is largely understood as the impact of disruptive experiences on one’s sense of self, one’s environment, one’s external reality. In this panel, we would like to further investigate the aftermath of trauma and the resiliency of both physical and human nature in the face of destructive events as represented in contemporary Italian literature and cinema. We invite papers focusing on marginalized and often silenced groups (LGBTQIA2S+, women, children, migrant and/or immigrant communities, etc.), Mafia, environmental destruction, and everyday life, while also considering GWS, queer theory, psychology, philosophy, film theory, etc. Please submit an abstract of 300 words max.
