This session investigates literature and the Medical Humanities, focusing on the potential of storytelling and narrative medicine to navigate trauma and improve empathy and communication between patients and health care providers. We seek contributions from scholars pertaining to various disciplines who work at the intersection of literature and medicine. Papers will explore how literature and life writing can successfully address traumatic events and improve medical practice. We welcome presentations that examine representations of trauma through storytelling and narrative medicine across a variety of genres, including poetry, fiction, auto-fiction, speculative literature, graphic novels, plays, and life writings. All interdisciplinary approaches and transnational representations are welcome. Roundtable one focuses on Gender, Reproduction, and Care.
