We would like to propose a session exploring aesthetics from diverse cultural perspectives, non-Western rhetorical traditions, and globalized literary theory. Our aim is to examine non-Western narratives that incorporate a hybrid critical approach and local theories within artistic and literary practices. We are particularly interested in research topics within South and Southeast Asian literary and cultural studies. How do these cultural or performative practices act as a site of resistance or hybridization?

Broad areas of exploration may include, but are certainly not limited to, the following literary and cultural theoretical perspectives:
• Globalization and Interculturalism
• Intersectional Perspectives and Epistemologies
• Decolonizing Aesthetics
• Postcolonial Interventions
• Globalization and Cultural Hybridity
• Transnational Theories
• Subaltern and Alternative Rhetorical Strategies and Practices
This proposed session seeks to explore aesthetics through the lens of diverse cultural perspectives, with a focus on non-Western rhetorical and literary theories. It aims to highlight South and Southeast Asian literary and cultural studies that incorporate hybrid critical approaches and local epistemologies. Key questions include how cultural and performative practices serve as spaces for resistance, hybridization, and the decolonization of aesthetics across transnational contexts.
