  • Lex Juridica Style Guide

Authors submitting articles to the Lex Juridica journal are expected to adhere to the formal and academic guidelines outlined below to ensure that the review process proceeds efficiently and smoothly.

1. General Publication Principles

• Scope: Works submitted to the journal must be original, previously unpublished, and open to all branches of law (public law, private law, international law, etc.) as well as interdisciplinary legal studies.

• Language: The journal’s languages of publication are Turkish and English. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that the texts comply with grammar and spelling rules (for Turkish, the TDK Spelling Guide).

• Peer Review Process: Submitted articles are evaluated by at least two subject matter experts using the Double-Blind Peer Review method following an initial screening.

2. Page Layout and Formatting Guidelines

To ensure an academic and professional reading experience, manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the following typographical guidelines:

• Font: A classic and legible typeface should be used throughout the text; Garamond fonts are recommended.

• Font Size: The main text should be 12-point, and footnotes should be 10-point.

• Line Spacing: 1.5-line spacing should be used for the main text, and single (1.0) line spacing for footnotes and block quotations.

• Margins: A 2.5 cm margin should be left on all sides of the page (bottom, top, right, left).

• Word Count: Article: 6,000–8,000; Case Study: 2,000–4,000; Book Review: 1,500 words (excluding the bibliography)

• Paragraph Formatting: Leave a 6 nk (pt) space between paragraphs, and the first line of each paragraph should be indented by 1.25 cm.

• File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

3. Article Structure and Sections

Articles must include the following sections in the order listed below:

Title (Turkish and English): Titles should be short and concise, accurately reflecting the content of the work. Titles must be in bold and in all capital letters.

Author Information: To ensure the confidentiality of the peer review process, the author’s name and institutional affiliation should not appear in the file during the initial submission. This information must be provided separately in the accompanying email.

Summary and Abstract: A Turkish “Summary” and an English “Abstract” of 150–250 words each, summarizing the article’s purpose, methodology, and key findings, must be included.

Keywords: Immediately below the Summary and Abstract sections, 5 to 7 keywords that best describe the study must be listed.

Main Text: The main text should consist of an introduction, a body (including subheadings), and a conclusion.

Headings: Main headings should be in all capital letters and bold; subheadings should have the first letter capitalized, with the rest in lowercase and bold. Numbering should follow the sequence I., A., 1., a.

Bibliography: At the very end of the text, there must be a bibliography listing only the sources cited within the text, arranged in alphabetical order by the authors’ last names.

4. Citation and Bibliography Formatting

The Lex Juridica journal adopts the OSCOLA (5th ed., Hart Publishing) footnote system to ensure standardization in legal texts.

• Book Citations:

o Footnote: Author’s Last Name, First Name, Title of Book (Edition, Publisher, Year of Publication), Page Number.

o Bibliography: Author’s Last Name, First Name, Title of Book (Edition, Publisher, Year of Publication).

Article Citations:
